Roast Date FAQ

Fresh coffee makes all the difference. At Koffee Kult, we're proud to be an artisan roaster that prioritizes freshness above all else. Here's everything you need to know about roast dates and how we ensure you get the freshest coffee possible.

Where is the roast date on my coffee bag?

All coffee ordered directly from our website at KoffeeKult.com includes the roast date printed on the side of the bag.

As an artisan coffee roaster, we want you to have the freshest coffee possible. We understand that roast date information is important to many of our customers, which is why we make it clearly visible on every bag we ship directly.

When do you roast and ship coffee?

Our Roasting Schedule:

  • We roast fresh coffee Monday through Friday
  • Orders are shipped within 24 hours of roasting
  • In many cases, we ship coffee the same day it's roasted

This ensures maximum freshness when your coffee reaches your door. You're getting coffee that was likely roasted within the last 24-48 hours!

What about coffee freshness and optimal timing?

Coffee freshness is somewhat subjective based on personal preference, but we generally recommend:

Minimum Age (Resting Period)
Allow coffee to rest 3-5 days after roasting for optimal flavor development. During this time, the beans degas and flavors stabilize.

Peak Freshness Window
Coffee tastes best within 2-4 weeks of roasting for most brewing methods.

Maximum Age
Consume within one year of roasting for best quality, especially if stored properly in our nitrogen-injected bags.

Our Freshness Guarantee
All our coffee is nitrogen-injected during packaging to preserve freshness and extend shelf life by preventing oxidation.

Why don't some Koffee Kult products have roast dates?

Coffee sold through distributors and retail partners (found on other websites like Amazon, not KoffeeKult.com) does not include visible roast dates. Here's why:

Freshness preferences are subjective
Some customers don't mind coffee that's 2+ weeks old, while others prefer it within days of roasting. Retail distribution serves a broader audience with varying expectations.

Distributor coffee is still fresh and high-quality
Just because there's no visible roast date doesn't mean it's old. It's still nitrogen-injected and not stored before packaging.

Different packaging standards
Coffee sold through retail partners follows their packaging requirements, which may not include roast date labeling.

How old is distributor coffee compared to direct-shipped coffee?

Direct from KoffeeKult.com:
Shipped within 24 hours of roasting - typically 1-7 days old when it arrives at your door

Through distributors/retailers:
Typically 4-12 weeks old when it reaches customers, depending on shipping and warehouse logistics

Both are nitrogen-injected for freshness preservation, but direct orders guarantee the freshest possible coffee.

How can I ensure I get the freshest coffee with roast dates?

Simple: Order directly from our website at KoffeeKult.com

When you order from our website: ✅ Coffee is roasted fresh to order
✅ Roast date is clearly printed on every bag
✅ Shipped within 24 hours of roasting
✅ You know exactly when your coffee was roasted

Coffee sold through other retailers comes from our distribution partners and follows different packaging standards without visible roast dates.

What if I need to know the exact roast date?

If having the roast date is important to you, we recommend ordering exclusively from our website at KoffeeKult.com.

This guarantees:

  • Coffee roasted within 24 hours of shipping
  • Roast date clearly marked on every bag
  • Maximum freshness and transparency
  • Direct support of our small roasting operation

Coffee Storage Tips

To maintain freshness after receiving your coffee:

Keep it sealed
Our nitrogen-injected bags preserve freshness. Once opened, reseal tightly or transfer to an airtight container.

Store properly
Keep away from light, heat, moisture, and strong odors. Room temperature in a pantry is ideal.

Don't freeze whole bags
Freezing can introduce moisture. If you must freeze, portion into smaller airtight containers first.

Grind fresh
Always grind just before brewing for maximum flavor and aroma.
